THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS FURNISHED AS CLOSING ACTION FOR THIS PROJECT:

Project Title: Mohawk Battery powered lift system, 24VDC

Project Dates: Feb thru Aug 2008

Project Monitor: Air force element VEMSO

Project Evaluated: Mohawk mobile column lift MP-18-518-4, 24 VDC, 68K cap, 15” forks on 1 and 2, 22” on 3 and 4, 4 ea weight gauges, 1 each HMMVW lift adaptor 1 each, pendant control, 4 each, MJS-47-72, high rise mobile jack stands.

Project Results: The above equipment was evaluated by 316 LRS/LGRVM vehicle maintenance heavy equipment shop. The lifts were used weekly in a heavy equipment shop to accomplish jobs such as transmission work, clutch adjustment, scheduled maintenance, and various under-body repairs. Lifts were used on different types of equipment to include snow removal trucks, dump trucks, mower tractors, and fire trucks. The optional Hi-Rise jack stands were well designed and easy to use. All the equipment used performed well with no safety or operational problems encountered, but added no capabilities that were not already available in this particular shop.

Note: a great feature of the MP-18 column lift is it can be stored when not in use, a convenient feature that frees up floor space when not in use. Additionally, since the units are mobile they can easily be moved to accommodate location of vehicle.

Final VEMSO action: The Mohawk lift MP-18-518-4, 24 VDC is recommended for air force use at this time.
