FINAL REPORT – ABOVE GROUND LIFT

PROJECT NO V90-36
BAILMENT NO 90-36

1.  Description of Project:

  • Purpose: To determine through test if this above ground lift offers sufficient advantages over current lifts to warrant Air Force adoption.
  • Equipment Evaluated: The 12,000 pound LMF-12, above ground lift was evaluated at Hurlburt Field FL. The lift is surface-mounted and avoids environmental liabilities and service problems associated with in-ground lifts. Installation is quick and easy. Twin post design allows complete under vehicle access. Lift arm length is designed to accommodate specific fleet wheel base.

2.  Discussion: As stated in our interim report dated 12 Nov 91, the 12,000 lb above ground lift was recommended for Air Force adoption because of its many outstanding features. The lift saves time in the day-to-day operations of a vehicle maintenance shop. This includes labor and reduction in vehicle downtime. Since the lift makes it easier to maneuver large tool items and large tool boxes under the chassis, this improves working conditions and boosts the morale of the technicians.

3.  Conclusion: The 12,000 lb Two Post Lift, LMF-12, was recommended for Air Force adoption. A permanent stock number, 4910-01-359-1079, has been assigned and it has been added to TA 457.

4.  On behalf of the Air Force, we wish to express our appreciation for your participation in this project. We welcome products for project consideration that have the potential for solving vehicle and equipment maintenance problems and improving civil engineering and transportation effectiveness within the Air Force.
