U.S. AIR FORCE
MANAGEMENT EVALUATION EQUIPMENT PROGRAM
FINAL REPORT – 50,000 LB HEAVY DUTY LIFT
PROJECT NO ST98-81
PROJECT TITLE: Heavy Duty 50,000 lb. Lift
PROJECT DATES: March 99 to September 99
PROJECT MONITORS: MEEPMO
PRODUCT EVALUATED: 50,000 Pound Heavy Duty Lift, Model TR-50
PROJECT RESULTS: The lift was procured by a Air Force Red Horse Vehicle maintenance unit and evaluated by vehicle maintenance technicians at an Air Force base, used to lift many different types of heavy duty vehicles and equipment. However, it was primarily used to lift 5 and 10 Ton Truck Tractors and Dump Trucks to perform preventative maintenance, and to remove, repair, and reinstall or replace clutches, transmissions, and other component parts. Due to a lifting height of 73 1/2″ and the large lifting capacity, the lift allowed technicians to perform maintenance in heavy equipment while standing upright, with complete access to the vehicle undercarriage; making it easy to perform repairs without obstructions. Most Air Force shops do not have this type of lifting capability, rather must use jack stands when working on heavy duty equipment, requiring the technicians to work in a horizontal position with much discomfort. Test site supervisors and technicians stated the Heavy Duty Vehicle Lift saved time, improved safety, and helped boost shop morale considerably due to the improved working conditions.
FINAL ACTION: Based on test results, the Heavy Duty Vehicle Lift, Model TR-50 is recommended for Air Force use by the testing organization.
The lift can be procured through use of established local purchase procedures.
This reports constitutes closing action for this project. We always welcome products for project consideration that have a potential to help solve vehicle and equipment maintenance or civil engineer problems or otherwise help improve shop procedures.
