U.S. AIR FORCE
MANAGEMENT EVALUATION EQUIPMENT PROGRAM
FINAL REPORT – 6K PORTABLE SCISSOR LIFT
PROJECT NO – T99-75
BAILMENT NO 99-75
PROJECT TITLE: Portable 6K Scissors Lift.
PROJECT DATES: March 00 – September 00.
PROJECT MONITORS: ACC MEEP Activity.
PRODUCT EVALUATED: Model USL-6000 Portable Universal Scissors Lift.
PROJECT RESULTS: Vehicle maintenance technicians at an Air Force base evaluated the lift in several different shops, but mostly in the tire shop. The lift was used with various type vehicles, such as S-10 Chevrolet Trucks, Dodge Caravans, Jeep Cherokees, Dodge Dakotas, Ford 6 Passengers Pick-Up Trucks, and other models that weigh 6K or less. In each case the lift operated as advertised. Its portability allows it to be used in any location where there is a smooth concrete surface. The operation/maintenance manual that comes with the Lift was very valuable in setting up and operating the Lift. The unit is self-contained, with its own motor and pump built in one unit, and excellent technical data is provided with the lift. Personnel calculated the time it takes to lift a vehicle using two lift systems, i.e.: the portable lift and traditional Jacks and stands, and realized that at least à hour was saved on each job using the portable lift. Thus saving labor money while improving work methods.
FINAL MEEP ACTION: Based on test results, the Portable Universal Scissors Lift was recommended for Air Force use by the test unit. They further recommended that this type of lift be used as a supplement to existing stationary lifts at bases where a large fleet of vehicles are assigned; and for those shops with outlying work elements where lifting capability is limited.
Product can be procured through local purchase procedures.
